SAFETY
HOW SAFE IS IT TO SKYDIVE AT SKYDIVE TRUCKEE TAHOE?
All of our skydiving instructors have undergone rigorous training and national USPA certification and are some of the most experienced instructors in the sport. We are proud to be a United States Parachute Association (USPA) group member drop zone and we strictly adhere to all FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and USPA guidelines on safety. Safety is our top priority.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE PARACHUTE DOESN’T OPEN?
This is a popular question! A malfunction of the main canopy is very rare. However, if there is a problem with the main canopy, the tandem parachute container that your instructor is wearing contains two parachutes, the main parachute and a reserve parachute. If the main parachute doesn’t open properly, your tandem instructor will use the reserve parachute. All tandem parachutes are also equipped with a computerized Automatic Activation Device (AAD). In the extremely unlikely event that the parachute is not deployed the AAD is designed to activate the parachute automatically.

CAN I BRING MY OWN CAMERA WITH ME ON THE JUMP?
No, only experienced skydivers are permitted to use a camera and have to have a minimum of 300 jumps to do so, per USPA regulations. Besides, you are much too busy with your skydive to look after your cameras!
